Why I Am Running
We are living in interesting times. Many of us are feeling the changes deeply—at home, at work, in our businesses and neighbourhoods, in the rising costs and growing pressures of everyday life.
Local government is also feeling these pressures. Mandated housing targets, aging infrastructure, affordability, environmental resilience and rapidly changing technology are making the work of Council increasingly complex—all while expectations for municipal services continue to grow.
Times like these call for fresh faces at the Council table—people who bring new perspectives, who have a depth of experience, and a broader range of skills to the challenges ahead. We need a Council who will ask the hard reflective inward-looking questions, listen carefully, debate respectfully, and work collaboratively.
I have that and am willing to continue this at Comox Council.
For more than 20 years, I have run Chislett Architecture & Planning, a small local architecture and planning firm that has served the Comox Valley for over 40 years. My work has taken me from project feasibility, pro formas, OCP and zoning requirements to serving as lead project manager for large consultant teams and guiding a wide range of applications through municipal approval processes.
As a prior social researcher with a focus on quality of life, I bring an understanding of how decisions about growth and change ultimately affect everyday life, our businesses, our neighbourhoods, our well being.
I advocate for balanced growth that encourages the housing types our current residents need, fostering our vibrant local economy, and respects what we love about Comox—our neighbourhoods, our incredible natural surroundings and the quality of life we are fortunate to have here.
To Comox Council, I will bring integrity, balanced decision-making, transparency and hands-on experience. With a fresh perspective and a strong neighbourhood lens, I will work toward a council that listens, represents and serves all of Comox and its citizens.

Priorities for the next Council
Safer Neighbourhood Streets
Look at interim possibilities for traffic calming, pedestrian safety and speed mitigation - prior to the 2028 Traffic Plan. Today, our neighbourhood streets should feel safe for kids going to school, families biking, seniors on scooters, pedestrians and the people who live and play here.
Resident Parking and Visitors
Address residential parking spillover while recognizing the needs of downtown businesses, employees and visitors. Is there any way out of what is happening downtown? Is there any possibility of more bylaw enforcement? Parking decisions to consider the whole system rather than simply shifting the problem from one street to another.
Housing in Comox
Comox needs housing for our young families, local workers, and aging seniors. Yet, that housing has to be matched by our infrastructure capacity, drinking water supply, liveable traffic flow and residential parking capacity, along with the teachers, doctors to support it. The Province’s one-size-fits-all Bill 44 doesn’t do this, particularly for smaller communities like ours. On council, I will continue to advocate for Bill 44 to be repealed or, if it remains, for realistic solutions that reflects the needs and capacity of Comox.
Transparent Decision-Making
Residents should be able to understand not just what Council decided, but how and why it reached that decision — and then have those decisions clearly communicated to the people they affect.
Meaningful Community Engagement
Let’s move from information to engagement, from presentation to invitation. Let's find creative ways for the Town to draw upon the extraordinary professional knowledge, lived experience and ideas already here, in Comox — and involve citizens early enough that their participation can genuinely contribute to the outcome.
